About the BSR Weather Website

I created this site so that I could know in advance what weather and snow conditions to expect at Beaver Springs Ranch. Hopefully, other HOA residents will find it useful.

My first weather station, an inexpensive birthday gift from my wife, turned into an obsession. In the last year I have upgraded the system to obtain better temperature and humidity data, and added a sensor to measure the snow level.

Before creating this website, I had a PWS (personal weather station) page at Weather Underground. However, when I added the snow sensor, I created my own site. This website provides a webcam view of the canyon, current weather conditions, and a summary of the weather for the day. It also displays charts that show trends for the current day and the last 90 days.

Disclaimer

I can't promise the site will always be available, or perfectly accurate, but I do my best to keep it maintained. However, important decisions should not be made based on this data.

Technical Info (for Geeks only)

The weather station consists of the following hardware and software...

• Wind, rain and barometric pressure are measured by an Acurite 5 in 1 sensor and an Aculink Bridge.
• Temperature and Humidity are measured with an Aosong AM2315 sensor.
• Snow level is measured with a Maxbotix MB7374 Snow level sensor
• Two Raspberry Pi computers are used to capture the data from the sensors and publish it to a MySQL database. The software was written in C++ and python.
• The website which is written in PHP gets the data from the database and presents it using HTML, CSS and Javascript
• Charts are made possible by Google Charts
